UFOCHASING

Hello! Welcome to my portfolio website. My name is Miles, I'm an Australian-based illustrator, cartoonist, and designer, and I go by the online psuedonym "Ufochasing". I primarily use Clip Studio Paint and a Wacom Intuos Pro. Aside from illustration, I also create games, code webpages in HTML, and make music. I am inspired by anime figures, goth/punk fashion, FRUiTS magazine, eary 2000s video games and cartoons, toys from my childhood, Japanese artists, and horror media, among other things. I like drawing exaggerated and highly stylised characters and environments, and using bright, high contrast colour palettes with thick lines and angular shapes. I coded this website myself in HTML, and I created every graphic used on this site.

AUGUST 2020 Backgrounds originally made for another WIP game project, this time for a Visual Novel. Originally made for use in RenPy, before I switched to the engine Visual Novel Maker. The original intent was to create a style that was angular and stylised, reminiscent of a cartoon from the early 2000s like The Powerpuff Girls or Invader Zim, juxtaposed with feminine, pastel colours. I would very much like to revist these concepts, as these drawings have all aged quite a bit and I have improved my skills quite significantly since they were first drawn.

OCTOBER 2019 A fake comic cover made for a school project in Year 11. The intention was to create a moody atmosphere with bright, bold colours that looked like it could be on the cover of a comic.

OCTOBER 2020, MAY 2022, JUNE 2022, JULY 2022 A few logos made for various projects of mine. These logos range from 2020 to 2022, and are all in quite different visual styles. All of these logos were either hand-drawn or have hand-drawn elements. The first was made for a cute, brightly-coloured visual novel game; the second was inspired by early 2000s website logos; the third was inspired by retro video games; and the final was inspired by neon signs and gothic-punk aesthetics.

FEBRUARY 2020 Some pages from one of my sketchbooks. These pages were mostly drawn with what I had in my school pencil case (POSCA markers, brush pens, felt-tip pens, highlighters and ballpoint pens), and the illustrations are all very rough and conceptual.
